This week your students have been working hard on developing our reading stamina for the Read to Self and Read to Someone rotations of the Daily 5. We have learned how to pick a "just right" book using the finger method and the I PICK method, and today we learned how to sit EEKK (Elbow, Elbow, Knee, Knee) so that we can better share with our reading partners. My students ROCK! They have already met our first stamina goal of 4 minutes and are now working toward reading for 7 minutes without breaking our concentration. We will be using the Daily 5 all year as a way to develop independence and to become better readers and writers. Next week we will introduce more components of the Daily 5 and continue to master Read to Self and Read to Someone.
