Last week in reading, we added Work on Writing to our Daily 5 rotations. We focused on what we could write about and how we could problem solve when we have writer's block. The bulletin board below was used to help students brainstorm ideas.
After we brainstormed broad ideas together, the students went back to their seats and brainstormed specific ideas that we could take off with during Work on Writing! After we brainstormed, the students were really excited about the opportunity to take their ideas and make them complete writing pieces, so they got started and wrote for a full 15 minutes without breaking their stamina! Each child was so excited to share their work and to have the opportunity to start writing again the next day. I am looking forward to watching each child's writing improve as they grow as writers this year! Below are some pictures of our practice with Work on Writing this week.
